Daily Thought Project

Why… (1st person)

The inspiration behind the Daily Thought Project…

Three years ago I started my own business – Procedor – after 25 years in the corporate world.  While I was successful in the corporate jungle, I knew that leading and growing my own business would require me to take my self-discipline to another level.  Also, I would have to learn and grow even stronger business skills if I was to deliver on my ambition to create both a global consulting company and an international speaking career.

To make this ambition happen, I knew that procrastination could not be part of my vocabulary or my mindset, and that I would have to grow on a daily basis to fulfil my ambition at the pace I wanted.  The following quote inspired me to take action and get things started:

The quote:  “Procrastination is giving up what you want most, for what you want now.”

Basically, this meant to me that procrastination is really “Pushing my Future into the Future”.  That didn’t sound good to me (and maybe not to you too), and I knew I needed to grow each and every day.  This way I am “Bringing my Future to Me”.

This is where the Daily Thought Project got started…

I thought that a great way to make sure that I really learn what I am studying would be to write it down in ways that others can benefit from it as well.  It is related to the old saying, “How do I know what I think, until I hear what I say”.  Also, I am the type of person who wants to get double or triple wins from my efforts.  So, I thought that creating a daily thought on my website would give me at least a double win and that turned out to be correct.

Writing the Daily Thought created the following Wins for me…(4 wins and growing)

Self-Discipline (Win #1)
To write a daily thought and keep it up requires great self-discipline.  This self-discipline is not only helping me to write and keep writing these daily thoughts, but has helped me to do the necessary, when it is necessary, in all other parts of my life.

Speed of Personal Development (Win #2)
For me to keep creating unique daily thoughts each and every day, it requires me to learn something new each and every day.  From the day I started the thoughts, I now average between 60 to 90 minutes of personal development study every day, and this has enabled me to grow faster than in any other period of my life.

Making a Difference for Others (Win #3)
After three years now of producing these daily thoughts, it has been very rewarding for me to hear back from the readers in how a thought had inspired action in them.  Isn’t action what life is all about, and as they say, “Life is not a spectator sport.”

Creating my Legacy (Win #4)
It’s been three years and counting, and I am planning to keep writing these daily thoughts for the rest of my life.  However, I am also taking that one step further.  My plan is to write these unique daily thoughts in advance and to have at least 25 years of thoughts already written for days after I leave this earth.  As I plan to live at least another 25 years, this will provide the world after I am gone at least 50 years of daily thoughts.  That’s over 18,000 thoughts – Whew…

These FOUR WINS have helped me create the WHY so big that I will MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
